MacBook Pro or iMac?
For many months I thought about buying a Mac. I spent days and night thinking about whether to buy a MacBook Pro and a 22″ monitor or a iMac 24″. I work a lot with graphical design, so a big monitor is important. I ended up with the iMac. Why? Well, first of all I already got three laptops, so I don’t need another one. Second is the price. Buying a MacBook Pro and a 22″ monitor would’ve been almost twice the amount I had to pay for the iMac alone.
I’ve now started to get use to the new Mac environment and I must say I love it. Everything runs and looks so smooth. I must admit, it was a little weird going from over ten-years-use of Windows to Mac. But reading some guides helped me a lot.
To help other new Mac owners out I’ll write down a few programs that you can’t live without.
- Adium - A very good instant messaging client.
- Firefox - Because it’s better then Safari.
- Spotify - If you don’t know what Spotify is already, check it out now.
- Coda - Best program I’ve seen so far when it comes to web development.
- Transmit - FTP program. Made by the same company as Coda.
- X-Chat Aqua - For all you IRCers.
- UnRarX - For those who want to unrar .rar files.
- AppZapper - For uninstalling programs.
- Little Snitch - For managing your bandwith access.
- Transmission - Torrent client. Waiting for uTorrent for Mac to get stable.
